Canniesburn Nursery in Bearsden is a quality childcare provider, we believe in providing the very best care and learning for your child. Canniesburn Nursery provides a safe, pleasant and stimulating environment with all three playrooms being bright and airy and decorated to a very high standard. We have our Baby Bees (0-2 years old), Caterpillar Room (18months -3 years old) and Busy Bugs playroom (3-5 years old). The nursery school is open week days from 8am-6pm we offer both full and part time care. Children have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy two-course lunch which is produced on site. Children, parents and staff are consulted on the menu. We cater for all dietary and religious requirements and provide fresh fruit with all snacks.

At Canniesburn Nursery, staff in the under three playrooms work with the Pre-birth to Three Document for Nursery Schools, where much emphasis is put on the four principles – Respect, Rights of the Child, Responsive Care and Relationships all of these principals we work to provide a caring and stimulating environment for your child. Staff in the Busy Bugs room work with the Curriculum for Excellence where all aspects of children’s learning is responsive to the child’s developmental needs.

We have an exciting outdoor play area within the nursery grounds, which gives children the opportunity to explore the wonders of nature. The children are encouraged to take the curriculum outdoors on a daily basis and in most weather conditions, letting them experience rain, snow, wind and sunshine (when the opportunity arises).

We believe children should have many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and learning experiences should be as valuable as indoor learning. Our babies have their own designated area and our 2-5 year olds have an area which includes a row of shops “Learning Street” and a variety of quality outdoor resources.

The Nursery has an open door policy and parents are encouraged to use this freely to make comments, suggestions and to discuss their children’s progress. We actively encourage continual communication between parents and the nursery to ensure the time your child spends at the nursery is a happy and enjoyable experience. Parents are kept informed through daily discussions, daily diary sheets, newsletters and parent’s evenings. When settling your child at nursery, we work very closely with your baby/child and the parent to ensure the transition from home to nursery is a smooth transition. It is important to us to develop excellent relationships between parents and staff as this enables children to move happily between home and nursery.

The nursery has its own car park so drop off and picking up is not an issue. Feel free to pop in and visit the latest addition to Kirktonholme Childcare.
