Mearnswood Nursery

Mearnswood Nursery

Welcome to Kirktonholme Mearnswood in Newton Mearns.
From the moment you enter our driveway, you will be surrounded by a natural woodland space which leads you to our beautiful building. As you enter our building you will be welcomed by caring and responsive staff as well as happy and busy children.

After a recent renovation, you will find our environments have been tailored to suit our nursery and the needs of our children. Our building is a bright and open space with lots of natural light flowing through the windows. We are also very lucky to have a vast outdoor space where children can explore and discover in their natural surroundings. Every room has direct access into their own garden space which allows free flow play between the indoors and out, as well as this we are surrounded by beautiful woodlands which we have access to from our nursery garden. We are very lucky to have a fantastic woodland space of our own that allows our children to truly explore the nature around them.

We ensure that nurture and attachments are at the heart of our service, staff will spend time getting to know you and your family to allow for a smooth transition from home to nursery. We pride ourselves in the relationships we have with our families and we feel this ensures our children are happy and loved within our care.

We will work with you to share your child’s development and achievements through recognised curricular frameworks such as Pre-Birth to Three and Curriculum for Excellence, as well as these our staff implement Building the Ambition and fantastic outdoor learning. At Mearnswood we strive to provide exciting, engaging child-led learning opportunities for all children. Our children are treated as individuals therefor their learning and development needs are catered for in an individual manner. Staff are responsive to children’s needs and interests and use this as a basis for further learning and development. We promote opportunities for children to develop friendships, confidence and develop their independence.

As a private nursery in partnership with our local authority, East Renfrewshire Council, we can offer places for children aged 6 months as well as children within their pre-school and ante pre-school years.

Our staff team have a wealth of experience and knowledge. This is evident in the experiences children receive daily. More than half of our staff team are working towards a further qualification to ensure their practice and knowledge is continually developing. Staff are actively encouraged to attend training opportunities both external and internal to ensure our learning environment is innovative and current.

Reviews

We are delighted with Kirktonholme nursery. Supportive, professional, motivated, caring staff who are great at keeping us updated with what’s been happening each day. Love the Facebook group which is updated regularly with pictures and videos.

The variety the nursery offers is amazing. The experiments / messy play etc really do foster that love of learning. Lucy has lots of favourite things she likes to do but the most favourite has to be sports with Greg (she just loves him).
