Govan Nursery

Govan Nursery

Kirktonholme Govan is a beautiful purpose-built nursery that opened in March 2017. The nursery is ideally situated in a prime location connecting many of Glasgow’s busiest neighbourhoods. The nursery has a spacious car park which is convenient and safe when dropping off and picking up children. Our staff work hard to create a welcoming and homely environment for all our parents and children.

Within the nursery, we have five playrooms which consist of two baby rooms, a toddler room and two interlinking playrooms for our young children from around the age of three until school age.

Our baby rooms are located on the top floor of the building with accessibility by lift or stairs. The environment is home-like, safe and secure. The children can easily come in and out of the garden through large patio doors which is totally enclosed.

The rooms are designed to provide a range of experiences and opportunities that enable young babies to use all their senses to learn about the world they live in. Our staff support children to explore, investigate and develop curiosity in their surroundings.

Our Toddler room is situated on the ground floor and has been designed to allow the children to become active independent learners as they play. The playroom is resourced with natural resources which help to stimulate all of the senses in addition to resources to encourage pretend play, exploration of paint, sand and water, objects to take apart and build together and interesting items to touch and examine to name but a few. Similar to our baby room the children can freely access outdoors through patio doors direct from their playroom enabling continuity to develop skills using a variety of material while having freedom and space to do so.

Our young children 3 – 5 playrooms are situated on the ground floor of the building with patio doors leading directly out to the outdoor learning environment. The playrooms are open planned and designed to give the children choices of experience and opportunities to plan and lead their own learning which is firmly based on play.

All our playrooms and outdoor resources are organised in a way in which enables our children to grow to learn new skills and develop at their own pace and developmental stage. The layout allows them to have comfortable places to relax, be quiet and be with friends.

It is well researched that parents and carers are the biggest influence in their young children’s lives and know their child best, therefore building relationships with parents is very important to us. Being involved and building solid partnership ensures all children will have the best and most positive experience during their time here with us at Kirktonholme Nursery.

If you would like to visit please contact the nursery and we can arrange for you to come along and have a look around.
