Kirktonholme is a private Nursery situated within the grounds (round the back) of Wishaw General Hospital and has been established since 2002. We provide quality full-time and part time childcare for children from 6wks- 5yrs old.

The Nursery is registered with Social care and Social work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS ) the new regulator of Scotland and are also in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council.

Originally our Nursery was divided into three main sections (6wks- 2yrs) (2yrs-3yrs) (3yrs -5yrs).

In June 2010 we changed to 2 main sections consisting of   Baby Room 6wks -2yrs and a 2-5 room. This happened after consultation with Local Authority, staff, parents and children our main aim was to provide children with more space and better access to their outdoor environment.

Our nursery provides a safe, pleasant and stimulating environment which promotes active learning, our facilities include- a secure entry system, disabled access, spacious rooms, a large secure outdoor area.

We provide snacks /lunches, snack in morning is fruit or toast with water or milk to drink, lunches are provided by the hospital canteen, we consult with the catering manager regularly to provide healthy lunches for our children, and snack in the afternoon will be a variety of healthy choices. We have our bronze health promoting award.

They majority of staff have been with the company a long time , you may see different faces as we take on students from carousel training and Motherwell college and they will leave at the end of their training. All staff are qualified and registered with SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) and have had a disclosure check. Staffs are encouraged to undertake further training to enhance their knowledge.

Our baby room provides a calm, warm friendly atmosphere, a variety of materials are used to support your child through their time at nursery, assisting them to have the best possible start to life as learners. All staff has good knowledge and understanding of the Pre birth – three Documents.

This document is used when planning for your child’s individual needs.

Our 2-5 room is developing through different stages; we have 2-3 yr old who are called Rainbows and 3-5 yr old who are called Moonbeams. In this room all children learn together, they are encouraged to be independent, sociable, share resources and communicate with each other.
We work with the Curriculum for Excellence and Pre Birth – Three Document and children are given quality learning experiences through out their day. Each child will have a keyworker and they are responsible of the development of your child.

We have regular parents nights and open days this will allow you to discuss your child’s progress.

We have an open door policy within the Nursery and the Manager or Depute Manager is available at all times if you wish to discuss anything.
