Kirktonholme nursery is situated in the grounds of Wishaw General Hospital. We are a 53 place nursery catering from 6 weeks to 5 years. We have 6 weeks to 2 years room, a 2-3 years room and a 3-5 years room.

Our Nursery provides a safe, pleasant and stimulating environment which promotes active learning. Our facilities include – A secure entry system, disable access, spacious rooms to allow energetic activites, a large secure outdoor area catering for all age ranges with lunches and snacks included. Sleep and rest facilities are available.

We have an excellent staff team consisting of a mix of qualified and trainee practitioners, all of whom are disclosed and registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. Staffs have individual development profiles with a variety of skills included, for example Child Protection, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and Fire Safety.

Our practitioners value and believe in the importance of a broad and balanced curriculum. We follow national and local guidelines for curricular effectiveness to ensure we promote learning and child development.

The nursery is in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council and we provide funded spaces for children aged 3-5. This room follows the Curriculum Framework 3-5 and the new Curriculum for excellence. Where possible children are given independence and choice in their learning processes to explore their environment and the wider community. We aim to promote social confidence and learning in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Staffs observe and assess children’s learning in order to provide for the needs and interest of the children.

Staffs is trained with the new Birth to Document from North Lanarkshire, As your child develops and grows, practitioners will support them to reach their full potential in a calm warm friendly atmosphere. Our setting provides a wide variety of materials to support your child through their time at nursery, assisting them to have the very best possible start to life as learners.

Our nursery is a Bronze Health Promoting nursery. We actively encourage and incorporate a healthy lifestyle in every aspect of our daily routines. Our Lunch and Snack menus are designed around our healthy eating policies to ensure every child has 2/3 portions of fruit and vegetables during their day at nursery. Our lunches are catered for by the Hospital and were overseen by the hospital dietician. We have a catering assistant who prepares and serves our meals.
