We are situated at 129 Wellshot Road, Shettleston, Glasgow 0141-778-9813.
We have been in operation for 7 years and are in partnership with Glasgow City Council. We are regulated and inspected annually with the Care Commission.
Nursery opening hours: The nursery opens at 8am and closes at 6pm. The morning session is from 8am till 1pm and an afternoon session runs from 1.30pm till 6pm. We do like to chat with parents about your child’s day at the end of your child’s session, but if you have any concerns we operate an open door policy and can be contacted at anytime.
The Nursery routine varies from room to room depending on the age and stage of the children. The staff in your room will be happy to discuss this in detail with you.
The Cottage can accommodate 9 children from 6 weeks to 24 months. Learning at this stage is done through sensory activities and the staff create a caring relaxed environment where the children can safely explore. The ratio in this room is 1:3.
The Tiny Tots room caters for babies from 12/18 months to 2 years; the children are supervised by caring staff. Learning at this stage is also done through sensory activities favourites are gloop and sand play.
The ratio in this room is 1:3.
The Tweenie room children are over two and at this lively stage are provided with a good mixture of free play and structured activities tailored to the needs of the individual child. The ratio in this room is 1:5.
The Little Rascals rooms: the children are in their ante and pre school year. The staff work hard to prepare them fully, to be confident and have all the skills needed for a successful transition to school. Staff from the schools are invited into the Nursery to see the children and get to know them in the Nursery environment, where they are already comfortable. The Nursery completes a transition document, which is recognised and welcomed by the schools that the children are moving to. Both staff and parents/carers complete this document. The ratio in this room is 1:8.
The Nursery is in partnership with Glasgow City Council- so where a child is entitled to funding the Nursery can access it, when applicable. All staff in the Nursery are regularly updated in any changes in Scottish Social Services Council, Scottish Office and Council policies. Training is carried out regularly with Glasgow City Council, Experiential Play and other agencies, ensuring that the curriculum followed is always up to date and relevant. All staff are required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.
We are a registered smile nursery and take part in health promoting school initiative, this encourages healthy eating throughout the establishment. We have achieved our bronze award for Eco Schools and are working towards our silver award. We take part in activities throughout the East End of Glasgow involving the local community.
