Kirktonholme @ Mearnswood - Newton Mearns Nursery

Welcome to Kirktonholme @ Mearnswood nursery in Newton Mearns, Glasgow.  From the instant you enter the building you will be welcomed by happy, busy children and caring, responsive staff.  Kirktonholme@ Mearnswood nursery has recently undergone a complete renovation programme and the newly refurbished rooms are fresh, bright and resourced with wonderful equipment waiting for your children to discover.

Outdoor area
We have an exciting outdoor woodland play area within the nursery grounds, which gives children theopportunity to explore the wonders of nature.  As well as this the nursery has a well equipped garden area, where the children are given the opportunity to plant and nurture seeds and bulbs, and watch them grow and flourish.  The children are encouraged to take the curriculum outdoors on a daily basis and in most weather conditions, letting them experience rain, snow, wind and sun.

Meals
Our cook prepares delicious, nutritious and well balanced meals that cater to children’s nutritional requirements.  Mealtimes in the nursery are an enjoyable occasion and encourage conversation and sampling of new foods.

Children’s learning and development
The children are provided with vast opportunities for discovery, investigation, respect and independent play.  Through all these and more activities the children will grow, learn and develop.  We use the Birth to Three Matters framework for children under the age of three and Curriculum Framework for 3-5 year olds along with The Curriculum for Excellence for the 3-5 year old children.  We encourage your child’s curiosity in all areas of the nursery, allowing them to explore and investigate their environment.  Pre-school activities are designed to stretch skills and give them a head start when they begin school.

Communication
We actively encourage continual communication between parents and the nursery to ensure the time your child spends at the nursery is as happy as possible.  Parents are kept informed through daily discussions, daily diary sheets, newsletters and parent’s evenings.
